About Us

Commonwealth Credit Union is a full-service not-for-profit financial institution. Commonwealth Credit Union opened its doors in 1951 with the goal of doing things a little differently. While a lot has changed since then, what hasn’t changed is their focus on people, not profit. This allows Commonwealth Credit Union to focus on bettering the lives of its members through lower loan rates and higher rates when it comes to savings. Commonwealth Credit Union has 17 branches that serve 25 counties across Central Kentucky and the Louisville Metro Area. Commonwealth Credit Union currently has over 115,000 members. Anyone who lives, works, worships, goes to school, or volunteers in one of the eligible counties can bank at Commonwealth Credit Union. Commonwealth Credit Union is also the Official Credit Union of the University of Louisville and the Louisville Bats. Commonwealth Credit Union has been recognized as a Best Place to Work in Kentucky for four consecutive years and named Best-In-State Credit by Forbes, ranking #1 two years in a row and making the list four consecutive years.
